In 2001, I was on track to become a journalist in Washington, D.C., when I realized the future of journalism was shifting entirely to digital media. It felt like a rat race I didn’t want to be part of, and I found myself drawn to something more foundational—the law. I wanted to understand the legal principles that shape our country, so I made the decision to go to law school.
That summer, I took the LSAT, earned a full-ride scholarship to Loyola Law School, and later passed the bar on my first attempt. After law school, I clerked for the Honorable J. Michael Memeo for two and a half years, gaining invaluable experience and a full understanding of the legal world. From there, I moved into general civil practice, where I’ve remained ever since. I initially worked with Jim Copenhaver before we rebranded the firm in 2019, and I’ve been practicing independently since 2013.
What I love about small-town law is the personal connection I get to build with my clients. Every day brings new challenges, different cases, and unique transactions—no two days are the same. Unlike lawyers in large firms, confined to cubicles and distant from their clients, I get to truly know the people I represent. I see them around town, and they know my family. That’s what makes this work so rewarding.
